meet the artists featured in our window in july

Have you passed our beautiful new window display already?!

Supporting local Artists and makers is an important cause to us and after the success of our first instalment, we have once again made our window space available to four different artists to display their work and hopefully give them more recognition.
So without further ado, here are the artists featured in our window in their own words:

Timothy Copsey

I’m based in Holme village where I make wood-fired pots on the border between function and sculpture. But in essence I'm making simple plates, bowls, cups, vases and bottles.
My hope, is that the work is playful, that they have the capacity to surprise and delight, and that there’s a resonance between their materiality and landscape from which they derive.

Jill Johnson

Jill Johnson is a local artist working with felt as a way of ‘painting’ landscapes, often semi-abstract with birds or animals. They are created using a wet felting method with fine layers of wool and various fabrics and threads, much as a watercolour might be painted in thin glazes. Further touches of definition are added using needle felting. The local moorland landscape is a wonderful source of inspiration throughout the seasons with its everchanging light, its subtle transitions of colour and atmospheric weather.

Jill is a member of the International Feltmakers Association and has more work you can view in the current online exhibition, ReConnect, as well as her gallery page in the Members Gallery on the IFA website: www.feltmakers.com

Maggie Tibbenham

A self taught mixed media artist who has always had a passion for painting and drawing, especially depicting animals.
