Supporting Local Artists This February

Get to know 5 great artists from around the area

Some of you might have seen that our window was transformed into a mini art gallery this weekend!

For the next few weeks we have the pleasure of displaying work of five local artists: Kate, Lucy, Tegan, Gail and Cicely.

The thought of making the Your Nuts window available to our local artists was born in December. After the difficult year we have all had, we wanted to use our platform to show support to local artists and makers, because we truly believe that we can only come out stronger by supporting one another.

So let us tell you a bit more about the Artists behind the pieces on our window.

Til Death Do Us Sew

Cicely and her husband Josh started Til Death Do Us Sew in 2018, a short while after their first child was born. They were both feeling that they had lost their identity and wanted some form of creative outlet – they wanted to do something together. Josh loves drawing and took this as an opportunity to develop his technique. Cicely has a degree in textile crafts and always enjoyed anything crafty and they knew they can combine their two talents with love for traditional tattoos and see where it will take them!

Gail Dooley

Gail Dooley is a sculptor based in Holmfirth who works with stoneware clay fired to high temperatures and finished with oxides and glazes.

'Some aspects of my work are of a serious nature concerning conservation and the survival of the animal kingdom, others appear more light hearted. All of it reflects the importance of our fellow creatures. I try to give my sculptures personalities of their own and let them speak for themselves'
